Genetics can play a role but usually it’s a lot more complex than this and involves interactions between lots of factors such as genetics and lifestyles and behaviours. The good news is that most heart attacks can be prevented and there are lots of factors in our lives that we can change to make us healthier and less likely to have a heart attack or get other diseases. Doing more exercise, eating a healthier diet (lots of fruits and vegetables) and not smoking are things that all people can do to lower the chances of getting heart disease or having a heart attack.
