Heart disease is usually found by medical doctors. If a doctor suspects a person may have heart disease they can run a series of tests. A common test is a ‘electrocardiogram’ which shows how fast your heart is beating and doctors can use the test to decide whether your heart is possibly damaged. Another test is an ‘echocardiography’ which shows doctors a picture of your heart so they can see how well it is working. There are lots of other tests too.
