• Question: Do you think that we might one day unlock the full capacity of our brains, or that there may be people out there who already have? if so, what might that include?

      Hi there.

So I read a lot on the internet about how we ‘only use 10% of our brains’ and ‘what will happen if the rest is unlocked!’ – this is sadly not true. We are always using most of our brains every single seconds of our lives. If you imagine for one second, what your brain has to do right now – this very second. As well as telling all your organs what to do, how you should sit, what yore breathing rate should be, and telling your heart when to Beat… It must also process all the stimuli in your world right now. For example, you are reading this sentence which contains visual pixels that are transformed into outlines – which are perceived as letters and then read as words. Your brain is also filtering out all of the irrelevant information that your brain is processing. For example, you are not feeling it now – but when I tell you to realise the feel of how you are sitting on a chair – your attention instantly switches to it and you feel it, whereas before you weren’t noticing it. Think of all the sensory stimulation your brain is having to respond to right now… And yet it does it in a split second! It’s absolutely incredible!

One thing I would like to add… Is that some people are trying to develop gadgets that act as new ‘senses’ – so trying to make body suits that allow you to literally ‘feel’ light or sound…so rather than unlocking your brain – this is using technology to play with your senses. All in all, it’s a very exciting subject to look at!

I think Darren gave a great answer! Thanks Darren, it is good to learn that the 10% fact is a fallacy!
