I work with information about diseases but I’m not exposed to any diseases themselves. What we do in epidemiology is we get lots of data from people or from things like doctors records and then we analyse the data on a computer. I don’t do any lab work and I don’t collect any samples directly from people. Some people who work in epidemiology do collect samples (such as blood) from people but they are trained in how to do this so that there is very little risk of being exposed to the disease themselves.
